Man to Man
Are You A Man of Character?
Volume1, Issue 5 Special September Issue
New and Improved
If you’re looking for the same old boring newsletter that you’ve grown comfortable with, then think again. Now, Man to Man is more edgy, in your face, and point blank. No more soft soaping the hard issues. Man to Man will face them head on.
BUT the stories will still be Bible-based, and Holy Spirit inspired. We will give God the glory and build men of character and integrity. That’s who we are and that’s what we do.

Where Have All The Men Gone?
Look around. Notice anything strange? Have you noticed the waning levels of testosterone?
It has happened. We have finally lost the ‘macho’ in machismo. Gone are the days of iron men and wooden ships (okay…it’s a cliché but I’m warming up). Instead we have weak men who try to sell us their weakness as not important and not relevant to their ability to lead. Boy are we being deceived!
You’ve heard it before. "I don’t think a man’s personal life has anything to do with the way he leads," one naïve young female says. "We should stay out of their personal lives," another impressionable male says.
But let’s look at the facts about our potential presidential candidates.
For example, Dan Quayle. The spelling thing is not important- Reagan thought ketchup was a vegetable. Instead let’s talk about Dan’s cocaine gift that he received from a friend. Or his failed attempt at an extramarital affair.
And what about cover-up-Watergate Buchanan. All he did was lie, cheat, steal, and suggest that more people lie to cover-up Watergate. What a man of character! And a young G.W. Bush apparently enjoyed his parties with a side of cocaine.
Don’t forget Bill Bradley. Here’s a man who walked through legislative loopholes so that he could get more money and trips than almost anyone else in Congress could.
Then there’s Al "Give ‘em what they like" Gore. Here is a man who is like a reed in the wind. He changes his mind to appease the crowds. Character anyone?
But it makes no difference if you vote republican or democrat or if you send your money to Al or Dan. What really matters is character.
Ask yourself the following questions when November 2000 approaches.
If you can answer yes to these questions, then chances are you have found your man. Are these standards too tough to apply to modern leaders?
To believe these standards are too rigorous means that Jesus is NOT the same yesterday, today, and forever, because the attributes of a good leader alluded to above are the standards that Jesus would want a leader to have. If HE has never changed, then the standards have never changed.
Let’s pray fervently that we can make a good decision for the next leader of our nation. If we trust in the Lord, He will provide.

On page 2 of the June 4th Boston Herald, Cialella, Geldart, and DeAngelis were interviewed about the need for men of character in politics. For a copy, contact Calling All Men at the address on page 3.
Do What’s Required
"What is the absolute least work I can do to get a ‘B’ in your class," a student asked his professor. "Well," the professor answered, "You would have to come to class, hand in your term paper in decent form and on time, and do fairly well on your exam. Otherwise, that’s it."
Sounds outlandish, right? This really happened in a college class. Christians are the same.
We ask, "Lord, what is the absolute bare minimum I can do for You?" When He tells us, we’re thrilled. But what if the Lord gave only the bare minimum to you. Would you be saved? Healed? Blessed? Cared for? Comforted?
The same holds true of our giving- time, money, energy, expertise- to ministries that serve Him. Many Christians invoke the "10% rule." It is true that we have been asked to give back 10% to the Lord, but that’s the bare minimum. He owns it all, so 10% is actually stingy.
When you give of yourself to the Lord he is faithful to bless you. Just ask a Christian that gives time, energy, expertise and his 10%.
We at Calling All Men need your help to keep the ministry going. Can you give a little more to the Lord? Call us!
CAM Men’s Health-O-Gram:
Researchers in Massachusetts are giving encouragement to avid walkers. They have found that just briskly walking one half-hour, three times a week can reduce the risk of heart disease. It has long been thought that you needed to run your head off at a sweaty, musty gym to get any heart-health benefits. Now researchers are telling men and women to lace up those walking shoes and get to steppin’. *
Got calcium? When most men think about osteoporosis they think young girls, women, and hormones. But we men may be setting ourselves up for some painful twilight years. According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 2 million men have osteoporosis and 3 million are at risk. Osteoporosis can lead to hip fractures and even death from complications. To do something good for your bones, drink three glasses of milk a day, eat calcium-fortified cereals and other foods, get plenty of sunlight for vitamin D, and take a calcium and vitamin D supplement if you can’t do all of these things. You’re bones will be glad you did. *
Congratulations to St. Paul Evangelical Church in Lexington!!
On Sunday September 5, 1999 St. Paul held their first service in the new church building located at 451 Lowell St., Lexington. After many years of prayer and hard work, the Lord has richly blessed this congregation.
We at Calling All Men extend our best wishes to the congregation and will continue to pray that the Lord bless their faithful work.
